AR60 Axles and compatibles. See description below

What You Get:

- 1 Hi Torque Hi Voltage special servo (titanium gears - 768oz/in@3s)
- 1 Servo support with tensioning screws
- 1 Machined aluminun spool
- Stainless steel HD Cable - 1m
- Sheath - 1m
- 1 Piston Support for AR60 Axles
- 1 Piston assembly
- Cable holders (5pcs)
- Steering links to knuckles not included

WARNING !
Due to the torque of the servo, running it on 3S may result in stripping of the steering linkage and parts. Recommended voltage max 2S. Running it out of a good ESC BEC (6V-5Ah) is enough on most applications.

Description

This heavy duty cable operated scale reproduction of a hydraulic steering ram is built to improve the scale looks of your rig, while solving the usual issues with axle servo placement and minimizing the risk of stripping the servo gears and damaging steering links and components.

The cable backlash is adjustable through tensioning screws on the servo support, which can be reached for adujstment with the rig fully assembled. We recommend tightening the screw just enough to barely obtain zero backlash, as this will allow the system to dampen the heavier blows.
On extremely harsh impacts - such as the vehicle tumbling down the hill - some slippage of the cable may occurr, but this will save your servo gears and steering components from damage, and the cable can be properly ritensioned in minutes with no need to disassemble neither the rig nor the piston assembly.

Positioning the servo off of the axle eliminates interference of the servo with some chassis, allows a lower ride height, and reduces unsprung weight, resulting in a more balanced COG and a smoother, more controlled ride when tackling obstacles at high speed.
This system is specifically designed for hill killing action. It was not tested in traditional slow rock crawling environment, where a more traditional placement of the servo might still be advised.

In order to keep the steering links working at a shallow angle, some shimming might be required between the steering linkage and the steering arms on some makes of knuckles. No shimming required on the Vanquish knuckles and other makes like SSD where the steering arm is placed up high upon the knuckle - just like the full scale buggies.

Materials

The carbon steel piston support plate fits onto the servo mount of the AR60 axle truss.
The servo support is made out of annealed carbon fiber loaded HD-PLA, with a tensile strenght of 15kg/mm2 - about twice as much as ABS and Nylon.
The cable spool, the piston supports, the piston housing, and the piston rod ends are machined out of billet aluminum alloy.
The piston housing is pressure fitted with a self lubricating nylon sleeve precision bored to fit the 5mm carbon steel piston shaft, in order to reduce friction and wear.

This product is the result of much research and testing. It was developed with dedication, and it is built with inspiration and craftmanship in our shop located in Italy. Customization for special applications is available on request on this item, as well as on the rest of the ProbuiltRC product range.
